Storyteller Carol Connolly and Musician Don Darmer bring tales and tunes from around the world to audiences of all ages. The duo’s songs and stories engage children and have them singing and clapping along, and adult listeners are enchanted by their musical stories. Together, they bring folk and fairy tales to life for their audiences.

Dive into Reading!
Splish! Splash! We were reading a book, long about a summer’s day! Tales ‘n Tunes invites young readers to wade in with stories and songs about the sea and all the characters and creatures we encounter there. In this sing-along, clap-along high-participation program, we’ll chart the waters, sail over the ocean and explore the bottom of the sea. Audience members will catch the reading wave, then drop anchor for some fishy fun with Tales ‘n Tunes. It’s an exciting and enriching musical story event that encourages summer reading program participants to hook the reading catch of the day. Don’t forget your snorkel gear!

Spooktacular Songs and Stories
Tales ‘n Tunes will treat you to some slightly shivery tales and spooky songs! No trick! Their not-so-scary show includes tales and tunes that will provide a balance of fright and delight for a family audience. This sing-along, clap-along high-participation program show, will feature silly spooks and elicit ghostly giggles as the performers give young listeners and their families a witchy brew of Halloween fun.

From Snowflakes to Raindrops: Winter into Spring
Stories and songs to celebrate Winter and the coming of Spring. From stories of the cold, cold North to songs about hibernation to discovering the first signs of the coming of warmer days to aJapaneses rian song, this program is perfect for February or April vacation breaks.

Soup’s On! Songs and Stories About Food
What’s your favorite food? Chances are Tales ‘n Tunes has a song or a story about it. And in Soup’s On! they’ll serve them up to you. So come on into the kitchen and enjoy a story stew. These storytellers and musicians will have you singing along with their tasty tunes that will make you hungry for more. So sink your teeth into these delightful morsels dished out by Tales ‘n Tunes.

Celebrations Around the World
This program highlights, through story and song, the season of lights and the holidays of Christmas, Hanukkah, Dewali, Kwanzaa, and Ramadan. The tales included in the program, for presentation in late November and December, feature the giving of gifts and the closeness of friends and family. And there is plenty of opportunity to sing along in this program developed for children and their families.

Hello Earth! It's Spring!
Tales ‘n Tunes invites you to join them in welcoming Spring and Earth Day with songs and stories which celebrate warmer days and caring for our earth. Listen and join in as they spin tales and play tunes about April showers, a time for new growth, and the importance of respecting the Earth and it’s creatures. So stop hibernating and join in the fun of sing-along stories and songs with this multi-award-winning duo.

Victorian Stories and Songs
This program takes us back to a very different time to give us a glimpse of the kinds of tales which were told and tunes which were sung by boys and girls living in the 19th century.

Magic Carpet Ride
Featuring tales from Israel, Iraq, Ancient Persia (Iran) and Yemen, this program brings images to the minds of listeners of shifting sands, magic carpet rides, prancing Arabian horses, and the sights and sounds of the bazaar. Accenting the stories are Middle Eastern melodies and participatory songs.

Once Upon a Tune
Stories and songs for the younger set, designed to get them telling, clapping, and singing along. Carol and Don will provide children an opportunity to listen to, participate in, and learn stories gathered from around the world.

Story Safari
We’ll circle the globe to track big game animals and smaller critters, too; and discover these characters can be found in our favorite books. It’s all about celebrating, through story and song, reading with our storybook animal friends.

Anchors Aweigh
This nautical romp highlights tales of the deep blue sea and features sea songs and shanties. There is plenty of opportunity for audience participation. Don’t be surprised if a pirate makes an appearance!

Let Your Imagination Take Flight!
Pack your Bags! Grab your plane tickets and prepare to board! Let’s take an imaginary flight around the world with Tales ‘n Tunes. We’ll visit many countries and meet the people and animals who inhabit both familiar and exotic places. We’ll use the cameras of our minds to imagine what it might be like to see the sights, smell the aromas and hear the sounds of these lands. Come with us as we let our imaginations take flight.

Rock 'n Read!
Get your year rocking by reading! Lively and highly participatory, this Tales ‘n Tunes presentation encourages young readers to listen to and take part in stories and songs which celebrate reading. A combination of music, creative dramatics and storytelling excitement, this performance includes stories and songs that will spark kids' imaginations. From the opening refrain about the library and storybook favorites found on the shelves, to the last note of their rollicking “rock” song about the wonders of reading, the duo stresses one simple message: Reading is fun!
